“Saori Rag Bands”



According to Zen principles, Sai means the individual dignity that lies in everything. Ori, on the other hand, refers to the process of weaving. Created by Misao Jo (1913-2018) in 1969 in Osaka Japan, the Saori movement approaches weaving through the lens of spontaneity and the enfolding of the authentic self. As opposed to traditional weaving built on order and transmitted knowledge, Soari is at the core of a philosophy that perceives “mistakes” as a trigger for creative freedom, self discovery and abundance. Woven with recycled fabric, repurposed leftovers, upcycled raw material: zero waste.
